1st Post: Is Richard a "Bad" Boy?
No, I don’t believe Richard is a “bad boy”. The decisions Richard have made aren’t always the brightest, but he doesn’t think things through to view the pros and cons. Richard acts carelessly without expecting a logical outcome, such as when he burned the curtains only to watch the flames, not to purposely burn down the house. Richard doesn’t think things through since he is so desperately trying to escape his environment. Richard is afraid of his father and his mother ins’t as sympathetic as she could be towards her sons. Richard’s impulse behavior, sometimes resulting badly, is a direct link to his abusive and depressing childhood environment.
